I’ve been called many things: Dustin, Dusty, Duster, DustBuster, Dust in the Wind, and on and on the list goes. As you may have guessed from the blog’s title, I’m a native Southern Californian and I live in Orange County. My wife, Kristin, is a gem in the care of a neanderthal. I can’t believe she agreed to marry me, but I’m so glad she did. Together we run a budding photography business called Smetona Photo.
I worked for a faith-based non-profit called Child S.H.A.R.E. until April 2012. Child S.H.A.R.E. works with the Christian community to recruit more foster/adoptive parents and support them through the entire process. This includes the beginning stages of orientation and training all the way through to adoption and beyond. As result, I’ve developed a huge heart for kids in the foster care system so don’t be surprised to see some posts on here regarding adoption, foster care, and the theological and Biblical motivations for involvement from Christians. Please let me know if you or anyone you know has an interest in welcoming a child into their home.
Since 2006, I have been blessed to serve in the local church, which is my passion. This has found expression in various avenues such as worship leading, teaching/preaching, outreach, and youth ministry. I graduated from CBU in 2010 with a B.A. in Christian Studies concentrated on Pastoral Ministry. I’m currently a member of Sovereign Grace Church of Orange County where I serve in worship and pastoral ministry.
However, these things are all subservient to the greatest thing about me: God, at great cost, gave up His Son to adopt me as one among many redeemed children. Jesus came to earth, died, and was raised from the dead bearing my sins and conquering death for me. The greatest joy of my life is to know Christ and to be known by Him. I desire to continue growing in His grace and, as a result, to continue demonstrating His grace to others.
The prayer for this blog is that my writings would aid you in knowing that He is the greatest treasure, so that you may cherish Him above all things. Thanks for taking the time to read and consider these things with me.
For His Glory and Fame,
